A Daily Dose of God

Today take a few minutes to think about three things:

1.    Heaven exists

2.    Hell exists

3.    We have to do our part to get to heaven.

Remember when Jesus talked about the narrow gate?

In ancient times cities were protected by a main gate through which passed material goods, supplies, etc.

In addition, to the main gate there two “narrow” gates through which a man or woman could pass but without anything.  Jesus reminds us that the worldly things we acquire here on earth stay here when we die.  Nothing we amass except our good deeds will go with us “to the land of the living.”

Hopefully our heart and soul will be filled to overflowing with good deeds when we meet our maker.  Remember when you receive the Eucharist – you carry the Lord of Lords, the King of Kings, in your being.   Let Jesus live in your heart with the joy & the comfort afforded a best friend.

The “narrow gate” that Jesus tells us about is realizing that life is not about us accumulating stuff, it is about us finding God!  The “narrow gate” is about us realizing our littleness before God yet realizing God’s immense love for us.  The “narrow gate’ demands total commitment, unconditional forgiveness, selflessness, and sacrifice.  The gift of God’s love gives us the opportunity to enter through the “narrow gate” into God’s eternal banquet!

Are you giving Jesus your best effort, are you striving to enter through the “narrow” gate?

May God Be Blessed!

COVID 19 Pandemic Prayer

Hear my cry!  “Lord, listen to my prayer: turn your ear to my appeal.”  You are my refuge and my hope, I turn to you during this COVID 19 Pandemic and plead for Your intercession.  In Your mercy and Your compassion “… grant eternal rest to the dead, comfort to mourners, healing to the sick ….”

[Psalm 143 and Collect from Mass Time in Pandemic]

Provide strength to the first responders, compassion to the medical personnel, and wisdom to government leaders.  End this coronavirus scourge.  Send Your light to me as I wander in the darkness of this pandemic and give me hope in Your eternal love today and every day.  Amen.  [Dcn. George Kelly]
