Today’s Scripture Readings offer us two Farewells or Good-Byes.
Paul to the Church presbyters if Ephesus and Jesus to Disciples. In Limerick, Ireland there is a statue “The Broken Heart” is on the waterfront. It represents the Great Emigration of the Irish to the new world during 1845-1849. It reminds us of three things:
1. Treasure today’s time with those we love.
2. When Farewells/Good-byes come, remember they are hard but temporary.
3. Jesus gives us the Eucharist to prepare us for eternal life..
One day every tear and every sorrow will be wiped away and today ponder what [the mystic] Julian of Norwich said, “All will be well, and all manner of thing shall be well.”She, also, said, “God is all that is good, and God has made all that is made, and God loves all that He has made.”
May God Be Praised.
