During Advent one of our morning antiphons is, “When will I come to the end of my PILGRIMAGE and enter into the presence of God.”
What a great insight our journey (here on earth) is really a pilgrimage to seek and find God. St. Francis de Sales said, “He (God) asks for your own heart. Give it such as it is … everything remitted to His divine hands is converted into good….” (Sermon in a Sentence, p.103)
That will make the pilgrimage joy-filled; de Sales wrote, “Walk joyously through life and if at times you cannot walk with faith and courage.” (Everyday with deSales, June 12)
de Sales taught us to "Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset."
Maybe this story about The carrot, the eggs and the coffee bean can help us this Advent:The Carrot, The Egg and The Coffee Bean
May God Be Praised!
Advent Prayer
Lord, my God, I praise you with my voice, and with my actions. I give You my heart today, grant me the courage to give it to You every day. My life is a gift from You, to You I offer my thoughts and deeds. Lord, my God, Grant me the Courage to Listen to You voice and follow You.
COVID PANDEMIC PRAYER
You are my refuge and my hope, I turn to You during this COVID 19 Pandemic and plead for Your intercession. In Your mercy and Your compassion “… grant eternal rest to the dead, comfort to mourners, healing to the sick ….” strength to the first responders, compassion and endurance to the medical personnel, and wisdom to government leaders. End this coronavirus scourge. Send Your light to guide me as I wander in the darkness of this pandemic and give me the solace of Your eternal love today. Amen. [Psalm 143 and Collect from Mass Time in Pandemic Adopted by Dcn. George Kelly]
