Season and the COVID 19 Pandemic
Living in the Coronavirus Pandemic time reminds us that we are just
passing through this world. This world
is a wonderful gift, how we live it is our gift to God.
Amy Jenkins shared this beautiful
insight, "And so, we must walk by faith, not sight. We need not see to believe, realizing our
hearts can feel more than our eyes can see. We can hear the Lord in the
silence of our hearts. We have the power
now to touch hearts, not hands. We should look for the possible in the
impossible. We can hold on to hope, not fear. And, we can be confident
knowing that our human sadness will be comforted by eternal joy!” (Amy Jenkins, Administrative Assistant to the Provost and
Academic Affairs at De Sales University)
Simplifying our life and our lifestyle might be a way for us to
use the COVID 19 Pandemic as a retreat, as a time to review our
priorities.
St.
Jean Marie Vianney offers a rule to live by, “Here is a rule for everyday life:
Do not do anything which you cannot offer to God.”
Offering our actions each day to God is a gift really for
ourselves because it makes us better, not God.
Faith is a gift we are given; shinning God’s light into the darkness of
our world is the bright light of our faith.
Saint
Francis de Sales advises us “Walk always near to God, for the gentleness of His
shadow is more wonderful than the brightness of the sun.” I pray that each of us uses
this Pandemic Time to listen to God, to listen to the Lord and allow that
message to guide us when we exit the Covid Crisis.
We began this blog praying a COVID 19 Pandemic Prayer. Let us
conclude with this edited of Kelly Weber’s Coronavirus prayer: Jesus
… you traveled through towns and villages “curing every disease and illness.”
Come
to our aid now, in the midst of the global spread of the coronavirus, that we
may experience your healing love.
Heal
those who are sick with the virus …
Heal
us from our fear …
Heal
us from our pride ….
Jesus
… healer of all, stay by our side in
this time of uncertainty and sorrow.
Be
with those who have died from the virus.
Be
with the families of those who are sick or have died.
Be
with the doctors, nurses, researchers and all medical professionals who seek to
heal and help those affected.
Be
with the leaders of all nations [and] give them the [courage to work for the
common good].
Jesus
… stay with us [and] give us your peace.
Jesus … heal us. Amen.
