St. Matthias was chosen by LOTS to replace Judas. I trust that
you have seen how the team chooses to kick-off or receive the football to start
a football game. The officials and the team captains meet in the middle of the
field and an official tosses heads/tail. The team that wins that toss gets to
choose kick-off or receive.
St. Matthias won the toss and chose to become an Apostle. We became Christians not through a coin toss, but though the waters of Baptism, God’s love poured out upon us. Our Gospel reminds us that God is love, not an emotional willy-nilly love, but a deep abiding love, Agape.
Today let us share God’s love with everyone we meet by looking for the good in them and thank God for their good.
