During World War II, England had difficulty keeping men in the coal mines. One day Churchill spoke to thousands of coal miners, stressing to them the importance of their role in the war effort.
He told them to picture the grand parade that would take place on VE Day: 1st the British Navy, next the RAF, then the Army, and last of all a long line of sweat-stained, men in minor's caps. Someone would cry from the crowd, "And where were you during the critical days of the struggle?" The answer from 10,00 strong, "We were deep in the earth with our faces to the coal." Living the Gospel here on earth does not usually bring us praise, glory or a parade BUT it changes our hearts and that changes lives! Take your heart to the coal mines of the Gospel and dig deeply, allow your actions to be covered by the dirt of the Lord, “Remember you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” So, “Repent, and believe in the Good News.”
“Lord, may everything we do begin with your inspiration, continue with your help, and reach perfection under your guidance.” Reflect on your Lent so far and whether your heart is being molded by God’s love?
