A Daily Dose of God

Preparing to be a light in the darkness of COVID

Advent is fast approaching, and it is an invitation to prepare our hearts for our Savior!  St. Francis de Sales taught, (God) “asks for your own heart.  Give it such as it is … everything that is remitted into His hands is converted to good.”

(Sermon in a Sentence, Francis deSales, p.103)

The prophet Isaiah is: “They shall beat their into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks; one nation shall not raise the sword against another, nor shall they train for war again.”

What a powerful vision and beautiful hope!  Peace will reign!  Isaiah is sometimes called “the prince of prophets” and his vision is a vision of peace.

The season will call us Advent remind us to still hope, work and pray for peace.  The people of the OLD TESTMENT dreamed BIG DREAMS:

            the desert becoming fertile,

            the blind seeing,

            the deaf hearing,

            the lame walking,

            the blessings of everlasting peace.

Think about Advent 2020 cloaked in COVID 19 and as the pandemic of darkness continues be a light of Hope; remembering that God is with you.

May God Be Praised!

COVID 19 Pandemic Prayer

Hear my cry!  “Lord, listen to my prayer: turn your ear to my appeal.”  You are my refuge and my hope, I turn to you during this COVID 19 Pandemic and plead for Your intercession.  In Your mercy and Your compassion “… grant eternal rest to the dead, comfort to mourners, healing to the sick ….”

[Psalm 143 and Collect from Mass Time in Pandemic]

Provide strength to the first responders, compassion to the medical personnel, and wisdom to government leaders.  End this coronavirus scourge.  Send Your light to me as I wander in the darkness of this pandemic and give me hope in Your eternal love today and every day.  Amen.  [Dcn. George Kelly]
