St. Francis de Sales said, “Walk joyfully through life. And if at times you cannot, at least walk with faith and courage.” [June 12, “Every Day With Saint Francis de Sales] Joy a sign of the Spirit of God dwelling in us, the Lord who taught us “my yoke is easy, and my burden is light”
Zechariah’s
name means “The Lord remembers”. The
prophet teaches us to “Rejoice heartily … shout for joy” we have been saved. Yet we sometimes neglect to live joyously, to
live with gratitude for the gift of life – for the gift of salvation.
In this
time of pandemic and protest we are challenged to figure out what God is
calling us to do?
Zechariah tells us
that our savior is “meek” – not weak, and from St. Francis de Sales we learn, “There is nothing so strong as true gentleness and
nothing so gentle as true strength.” We have been chosen to follow Jesus in humility and in
gentleness. We pray, “I will
praise your name forever, my king and my God …. I will praise your name forever.” [Psalm 145]
How do
you praise God’s name?
How you
live God’s name?
We do
so with our actions, our deeds, our words, our life ….
St.
Paul tells us, “… you are in
the spirit, if only the Son of God dwells in you.” In Romans (chapter 8) Paul uses spirit (pneuma) 21
times. Living in the Spirit enables us
to live our vocation, to fulfill our God-given purpose here on earth. Jesus shows us how to live as His Children,
doing His work and following His teachings.
Remember
to “Walk joyfully through life. And if at
times you cannot, at least walk with faith and courage.”
Today
walk with faith, courage and God’s joy will find you.
May God Be Blessed!
