The 1944 a movie, “It Happened Tomorrow” was about a newspaper reporter who receives tomorrow’s newspaper today.  The reporter scoops all of the other reporters, he bets on the horses because he knows who wins; he becomes rich doing so.

Then tomorrow’s newspaper reports his death.

We know one day each of us will die; we usually don’t know where or when.  There is an ancient Arab legend about the angel of death.  A man is talking with a friend and he spots the angel of death riding into town; bids his friend a quick good-bye.

He quickly rides off to Medina, when the angel of death rides up to the man’s friend asks him whom you seek in this town.  The angel of death says he has no business in this town, but has an appointment later in the day in Medina.

“A man must always be ready, for death comes when & where God wills it.”  (St. John Neumann)

It is often said that we cannot escape taxes and death. Hopefully, the taxes will end with death.  St. Paul teaches we to “work quietly” until the Lord Jesus returns!  Luke tells us that Jesus taught his disciples and us not to worry about when the end is coming, BUT to be busy living His message each day.

You and I have been given, through our baptism, great power and great responsibility – by becoming a child of God.  A great power in the knowledge that God is love!  And a great responsibility to share God’s love with our families and our world!

Our time is limited here on earth; today we are reminder to use it to build God’s Kingdom.  How are you using your time?

May God be praised!
