In the Gospel of Matthew 19:14 Jesus said, “Let the children come to me, and do not prevent them; for the Kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” The kingdom of heaven belongs to those who are like children. Many years ago, Art Linkletter hosted a TV show called “House Party” and a segment of that show was “Kids say the darndest things.”
Children don’t hide the truth of their reactions. Mind you, this childlikeness has nothing to do with being unsophisticated, unaccomplished, or childish.
Being Childlike has to do with that rootedness in what God wants us to be.
Be rooted in God and your life will be less complicated, maybe this story can help us understand being childlike, lecturer Leo Buscaglia shared this story.
A four-year-old child’s next-door neighbor was an elderly gentleman, who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old Gentleman's' yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his mother asked him what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy just said, “Nothing, I just helped him cry.”
Being Childlike brings us closer to God.
May God Be Praised.
