Blog Post 9/03/2023 - Remember July 4, 1939, Lou Gehrig Appreciation Day

Remember July 4, 1939, Lou Gehrig Appreciation Day

In the midst of battling the disease that now carries his name [The Lou Gehrig disease], at a ceremony in Yankee stadium, Lou said, “Today I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth.”

Thanking his family, he praised his wife for showing “more courage than you dreamed existed.”

He ended his speech by saying, “I might have been given a bad break, but I’ve got an awful lot to live for.”

Each one of us will get some bad breaks, but we have “an awful lot to live for”, we are building the Kingdom of God, and it doesn’t get better than that.

Words to reflect on today.

May God Be Praised!
