In Ecclesiastes [1:2-11] we read, All speech is labored; there is nothing one can say. The eye is not satisfied with seeing nor is the ear satisfied with hearing. Solomon spends a lot of time this Old Testament text stating that everything is meaningless and futile—without God, certainly a precious and powerful insight.
Today take a few minutes to reflect on three things.
1. Speaking not in and through our love of and for God has no value.
2. We pray not so much to God as inside God – Who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
3. Hans van Balthasar offered us this image of God, The Trinity is an act of speech: 1. a Speaker, 2. a Word and 3. Breath; the Father is the Speaker, the Son is the Word, and the Holy Spirit is the Breath.Your words matter, spoken or unspoken they breath God into the world or ignore the Breath of life that the world needs.
May God Be Praised.
