Mark Twain said, “Most people are bothered by those passages of Scripture which they cannot understand; but as for me, I have always noticed that the passages of Scripture which trouble me most are those which I do understand.”

Most of us know very clearly what Jesus wants us to do and how He wants us to live.  St. Francis deSales wrote, "Many men keep the commandments in the way sick men take medicine: more from fear of dying in damnation than for joy of living according to our Savior’s will.

Just as some persons dislike taking medicine, no matter how pleasant it is, simply because it is called medicine, so there are some souls who hold in horror things commanded simply because they are commanded . . .

On the contrary, a loving heart loves the commandments.  The more difficult they are, the sweeter and more agreeable it finds them, since this more perfectly pleases the Beloved and gives Him greater honor."  (Finding God’s Will for You, p.20)

Today as you reflect what Jesus wants you to do, allow God’s WORD to guide every moment, every decision and everything you do.

“The Word is light and ardor, darkness and reproof.                                            

Fiery, icy, comforting, reproving, disconcerting, cutting asunder, ‘striking to the joining place of bone and marrow,’ it works a strange surgery of the spirit.           

If the seed is to fall on good ground, it must wait on an open heart.                   

Open like loosened soil to the rain, we imagine the world anew, with a courage to match the ancient heroes of the Word.
