Just a reminder today is Salesian Saturday and topic is “Abandon yourself completely to God’s Will & Purify your love for God.”  After Mass will have our discussion in the Gathering Space for a half hour and then Eucharistic Adoration for an hour in the main Church, everyone is cordially invited to join in.

Let me share a few pastoral thoughts with this morning on our readings.   Focus your attention on Shepherding and the Shepherd.  Shepherding is hard and dirty work.

The Shepherd guides, protects and cares for sheep day and night.  Not the kind of work that was most sought after.

In the Letter to the Hebrews we heard, “… God raised the great shepherd of the sheep ….”

In the Gospel, Mark tells us that Jesus “… was moved with pity for them.”  Jesus, the Good Shepherd taught the people, and He teaches us with the Scriptures and the Sacraments to know, love and serve Him.  We are called to follow Jesus in this world and into the next.

Jesus loves us, teaches us, guide us and we are called to follow Him, a blessed privileged we have been given.
