October, as you know, is the month of the Rosary.  In our reading from Galatians, we heard that we are “… children of Abraham….” &and that we should live by faith.   We are called to  obey the Law, the Commandments and the Beatitudes not out of fear, but for love of God.

We are called to love Jesus by living His Law; we are either for Jesus or against Him.  One way to build and strengthen our relationship with Jesus is by praying the Rosary with the Blessed Mother.  “Mary heard the Word of God and cherished it in her heart.”

During the month of October Holy Mother Church reminds us to pray the Rosary, today spend a few minutes reflecting on each mystery of the rosary and walk with Mary through each one.

The Mysteries of the Rosary are more deeply opened up by the repetition of the prayers –

the Hail Marys, the Our Fathers and the Glory Bs.  Sometimes we pray the Rosary so quickly that we do not ponder the words we are praying.

I suggest that when you pray the Rosary take a few moments reflect on the mystery of the Rosary.  Here are four examples.  The Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary, [are prayed on Monday and Saturday].

Reflect on The Annunciation, Mary a very young girl is visited by the angel Gabriel who tells her God has chosen her to give birth, a virgin birth, to the Messiah, Jesus Christ .  Imagine her bewilderment and her confusion.  She said yes to God’s request.

The Visitation of Mary to Elizabeth

The Nativity

The Presentation of our Lord

Finding Jesus in the Temple

The Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary [are prayed on Tuesday and Friday].  Reflect on The Agony of Jesus in the Garden, Jesus’s suffering for our sins, to show us how to suffer when it enters our life.

The Scourging at the Pillar

The Crowning with Thorns

Jesus is mocked with a painful crown of thorns.

Jesus Carries the Cross

The Crucifixion of our Lord

The Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary  [are prayed on Wednesday and Sunday].  Reflect on The Resurrection of Jesus Christ, He conquered death to show us the way to heaven.  He offers us the grace to live as His Disciples.

The Ascension of Jesus to Heaven.

Pentecost the Church is born.

The Assumption of Mary into Heaven

Mary is Crowned as Queen of Heaven and Earth

Pope St. John Paul II Gave us the  Luminous Mystery of the Rosary [which are prayed on Thursday.]

The Baptism in the Jordan

The Wedding at Cana

The Proclamation of the Kingdom

The Transfiguration

Reflect on The Institution of the Eucharist, the gift of Jesus’ Body and Blood offered to nourish us through the Consecration of the bread and wine by Fr. Marty.  The source and summit of our faith.

These are examples of reflecting on the mysteries of the Rosary, you can do it with each mystery, to enrich your prayer life.  During October take to pray the mysteries of the Rosary to grow closer to Jesus.

May God Be Praised!
