Blog Post 10/15/2022 - What Genesis Tells Us

Insight into the Book of Genesis

Rabbi Jonathan Sacks said, “What makes the first chapter of Genesis so revolutionary is its statement that every human being, regardless of class, color, culture, or creed, is in the image and likeness of God himself. We know that in the ancient world it was rulers, kings, emperors, and pharaohs who were held to be in the image of God. So what Genesis was saying was that we are all royalty. We each have equal dignity in the kingdom of faith under the sovereignty of God.”

Reflect on the idea that you are made in the image and likeness of God, Amazing, Simply Amazing!

Blog Post 10/14/2022 - Today Pray with Me

“Lord God, cleanse me from any evil or distracting thoughts, stir my heart to praise You.  Grant me singular focus to do Your Will today with reverence and love.  Hear my pleas, fill me with Your Grace that I may shine forth Your Radiance to the world.”
            [Deacon Kelly]

“Come, Holy Spirit, [Come] fill my heart.  And kindle in me the fire of Your Divine love.  Send forth Your Spirit and I shall be created.  And You will renew the face of the earth.”

St. Francis de Sales offers us this insight about our spiritual life, "We shall steer safely through every storm, so long as our heart is right, our intention fervent, our courage steadfast, and our trust fixed on God."

The time you waste on prayer is the best time of your day.

May God Be Blessed.

Blog Post 10/13/2022 - Hear Me O Lord!

Psalm Prayer, “Hear your people who call to you in their need and lead your Church from the shadows of death. Gather us from sunrise to sunset that we may grow together in faith and love and give lasting thanks for your kindness.”

“Those who love the Lord will see and rejoice; they will understand his loving kindness.”   [Antiphon]

The Lord is waiting for your pleas today, even thought He knows your needs.  Go to Him you who are weary, and He will give you rest.  Today Ask, Seek and Knock and then listen for the answer.

May God Be Praised.

Blog Post 10/12/2022 - Let your past inform you, but not limit you

Our past is with us forever, but it doesn’t limit us, it should inform us.  Our past is part of who we are today.  The sins of yesterday need the Lord’s forgiveness, He who knows us better than we know ourselves.

“Then they cried to the Lord in their need and he rescued them from their distress.  He sent forth his word to heal them….”  [Psalm 107]

May we always remember what St. Francis de Sales said, “Be who you are and be that well as a witness to the master craftsman who created you.”

You and I are children of God, so let’s go to our Lord and Savior for guidance to “Live Jesus”, live Jesus today and when tomorrow gets here it will be today and we can “Live Jesus” again.

“Almighty ever-living God … pour out your mercy upon us to pardon what conscience dreads and to give what prayer does not dare to ask.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.”  Amen.

May God Be Praised.

Blog Post 10/11/2022 - October is Respect for Life Month

In October, we are reminded life begins at conception and ends with natural death, when God call us home.

St. Francis de Sales tells us that "The measure of love is to love without measure."  We pray for each life, because "Every Life is Worth Living", and so we love as Jesus would love, because we are His disciples.

May God Be Praised.

Blog Post 10/10/2022 - Listening & Humility

St. Paul wrote to Timothy, “Train yourself for the life of piety … the discipline of religion is incalculable … with its promise of life here and hereafter. You can depend on this as worthy of complete acceptance.” [1st Ltr. of Paul to Timothy 4]

Listening to the Word of the Lord, fills our minds with light and our lowly hearts with understand.  Whoever humbles themselves here, will be great in the Kingdom to come.

May God Be Praised.

Blog Post 10/09/2022 - Some Thoughts on the Rosary

Today spend a few minutes reflecting on these two powerful insights on praying the Rosary.

Saint John Paul II proposed another set of mysteries that many of us are now familiar with: the Mysteries of Light (Luminous Mysteries). These scenes from the Gospels fill in the gap between Christ’s childhood and His Passion with events from His public ministry…They have a distinctly sacramental character not found in the traditional fifteen mysteries. They remind us that our salvation is revealed not just in Jesus’ life two thousand years ago, but also in Baptism, Matrimony, the Eucharist, and the other sacraments. –

Dan Burke and Connie Rossini, p. 34, The Contemplative Rosary

The repetition in the Rosary is meant to lead one into restful and contemplative prayer related to each Mystery. The gentle repetition of the words helps us to enter into the silence of our hearts, where Christ's spirit dwells. The Rosary can be said privately or with a group.

The time invested in contemplating the mystery of the Rosary before praying each decade in a very wise investment.
