Blog Post 02-06-2025 A Disciple of Jesus Christ

“As morning breaks we sing of your mercy, Lord, and night will find us proclaiming your fidelity.” [Antiphon from Morning Prayer]

Catholic moral teaching holds the primacy of conscience as its foundation. “For man has in his heart a law written by God,” as taught by the Vatican II Council Fathers in the “Gaudium et spes” decree. Each one of us called to “…obey it ...” because our dignity as children of God lies here, we will be judged according to it. “Conscience is the most secret core and sanctuary of a man. There he is alone with God, Whose voice echoes in his depths.” Our conscience must be well formed to enable us to hear the voice of God, morality is not relative. Our conscience should be, in fact must be followed, must be obeyed.

When our time here on earth ends, as we stand before God with our actions and our conscience, may God be pleased with both, may our life here reflect God’s call to live as a child of God.

May God Be Praised.
