What is dross? Waste that is removed when metals are purified by smelting. A silversmith removes the waste material [dross] by removing it when it rises to the top. And in Proverbs we read, "Take away the dross from the silver, And there comes out [the pure metal for] a vessel for the silversmith [to shape]." [25:4]
Our sins, anything we don’t offer or give to God is spiritual dross, Advent reminds us to remove from our lives what is not from God, of God or for God. God wants to shape us so “We can be who we are [children of God] and be that well.”
"Lord, may we praise You with our words, share You with our actions, and embrace You with our hearts and souls. Give us the grace to look forward to Your return and be ready for it."
