Saturday in the Octave of Easter

Today is the 7th day in the Octave of Easter and we leave our Easter Morning Reflection: HOPE Emerges in the Dawn and reflect on being a Believer.  Despite our doubts, our failures, our sins we believe, we believe!

In Msgr. Peter Vaghi’s book, Meeting God in the Upper Room, Cardinal Wuerl writes in the Forward, “…the believer needs to ask, ‘How do I manifest that belief that I am a true disciple of Jesus, that he’s risen and walks with me?’”

Simply put how do I as a believer in and disciple of Jesus Christ live in a manner that points to the eternal gift of the Resurrection?  Maybe this poem by Carlo Caretto can help us, “Blessed Are Those Who Believed”

“When you forgive your enemy,

When you feed the hungry,

When you defend the weak,

you believe in the resurrection.

When you have the courage to marry,

When you welcome the newly-born child,

When you build your home,

you believe in the resurrection.

When you wake at peace in the morning,

When you sing to the rising sun,

When you go to work with joy,

you believe in the resurrection.

Belief in the resurrection means FILLING life with faith,

it means believing in your brother, it means fearlessness towards all.”

Spend a few minutes today reflecting on why you believe and how you live.

St. Joseph, pray for us.

St. Andre Bessette intercede for us.

May God Be Praised!

The Octave of Easter

My twin granddaughters celebrate the Risen Lord, with a driveway drawing.

He is Risen, He is Risen, Alleluia, Alleluia!
