In the first reading from Genesis, Jacob wrestles with a mysterious man and that man changes Jacob’s name to Israel.
Names are important, Pope Francis emphasized the profound significance of choosing a child's name, he said that the name parents give their child will be the name God calls them for eternity.
Here are two name changes you may be aware of:
1. John Roger Stephens is none other than John Legend.
2. The first Pope Peter - Jesus changed Simon to Peter, [in Aramaic Cephas] [in Greek Petros] and [in English Peter] his name means “rock.”
Remember your Baptismal name Sacramentally makes you a Christian. In the Gospel Jesus drives out the demon from the mute man; Jesus brings light to the man, and He brings light to us.
