Another way to look at prayer.
St. Bernard of Clairvaux said, "He who labors as he prays lifts his heart to God with his hands."
Sometimes we lift our hearts with our hands, sometimes we lift our hearts with our thoughts, sometimes we life our hearts with our minds but always with our hearts in faith.
