Blog Post 07-15-2025 What Comes Next?

St. Francis de Sales wrote, “Consider all the past as nothing, and say, like David: Now I begin to love my God.”

Each yesterday is gone, each tomorrow is not yet but today love God the best you can and when tomorrow gets here begin again, to do what you did yesterday love God.

May God Be Praised.

Blog Post 07-14-2025 May our lives proclaim our beliefs; Actions speak louder than words.

In a sermon by Saint Anthony of Padua said, “The man who is filled with the Holy Spirit speaks in different languages. These different languages are different ways of witnessing to Christ, such as humility, poverty, patience and obedience; we speak in those languages when we reveal in ourselves these virtues to others. Actions speak louder than words; let your words teach and your actions speak.”

May each of our actions today point to God’ s Love and care for us.

May God Be Praised.

Blog Post 07-13-2025 Walking the walk… Regardless of the Cost?

There is a vast difference between intellectual faith and genuine faith. In the late 1890's, a famous tightrope walker strung a wire across Niagara Falls. As 10,000 people watched, he inched his way along the wire from one side of the falls to the other.

When he got to the other side, the crowd cheered wildly. Finally, the tightrope walker was able to quiet the crowd and shouted to them, 'Do you believe in me?'. The crowd shouted back, 'We believe! We believe!'.

Again, he quieted the crowd and shouted to them, 'I am going back across the tightrope but this time I am going to carry someone on my back. Do you believe I can do that?'. The crowd yelled back, 'We believe! We believe!'. He quieted the crowd one more time and then asked them, 'Who will be that person?'.

The crowd suddenly became silent. No one was willing to be that person cross the falls on his back the tightrope walker the tightrope walker. [Bryn MacPhail, Surpassing the Faith of Demons, Sermons.com]

We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, True God & True Man. Are we willing trust our lives with Jesus? To climb on Jesus back and walk our talk on this world’s tightrope?

Blog Post 07-12-2025 Living in this world while Preparing for the Next.

St. Paul urged the Romans “Do not conform yourselves to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, so that you may judge what is God’s will, what is good, pleasing and perfect.” [12:2]

St. Paul’s advice would serve us well today if we chose to follow it and if we do follow his advice our anxiety levels will be significantly reduced.

St. Francis de Sales’ insight provides us with this insight, “Be who you are and be that well. So that you may bring honor to the Master Craftsman whose handiwork you are.” [St. Francis de Sales]

Blog Post 07-11-2025 - How to Start your day.

“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” [Mark 1: 35]

Be like Jesus start you day with prayer.

In Les Mis, Marius says, “There are thoughts which are prayers. These are moments when, whatever the posture of the body, the soul is on its knees.”

Blog Post 7-10-2025 What is your goal in life?

St. Aloysius Gonzaga said, "It is better to be a child of God than king of the whole world!"

King Alfonso XIII “If I had been present at the creation I would have offered some useful hints for a better ordering of the situation.”

Aloysius and Alfonso had different visions of life here on earth, make your vision the vision Jesus calls us to be His disciple, a child of God, trusting in God’s Divine Providence.

Jesus calls us to be saints.

Read Matthew’s Gospel 6:24-34 https://bible.usccb.org/bible/matthew/6

Who will you serve?

Blog Post 07-09-2025 Homily Cycle I – Hold Fast to Dreams.

“The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

Do you believe that?

Does your life reflect that belief?

Langston Hughes wrote a powerful poem, “Dreams.”

“Hold fast to dreams ….”

Jesus sent the Twelve out to proclaim Heaven’s Dream, you and I are called to do likewise.

Spend some time today reflecting on “The Dream of Heaven;” hold fast to it.

May God Be Praised.
