Hopefulness

 

St. Mark tells us, “You do not know when the time will come.”  Advent reminds us that our time on earth is precious and that our HOPE rests on Jesus Christ our Lord and Redeemer.

 

Jesus is the Lord of All Hopefulness at the break of the day, at the noon of the day, at the eve of the day and at the end of the day.  Today take five minutes to quietly listen to Jan Struther’s poignant hymn “Lord of All Hopefulness”.*

God’s Desire

God desires to enter into our soul, the Lord’s great wish is to live in us, so that we can live in Him. God wants our heart to beat with the rhythm of His heavenly heart.  May it happen as God wishes for our true peace and happiness lives there.

Lord, You are our hope; we shall not hope in vain.

An Advent Goal

This Advent may we live loving and hope-filled lives, knowing the Kingdom is at hand. Although we do not know the hour of its’ arrival.  May we shine God’s light on earth as we await Jesus’ return.  When we grow weary of doing good, give us the courage to do Your work Lord, knowing that Your work is never in vain.

“Lord, my God, I praise you with my voice, and with my conduct.  I give You my heart today and ask that You grant me the grace and courage to follow You. 

My life is a gift from You and to You I offer my thoughts and actions.  Lord, my God, help me preserve in listening and following Your voice.”

Blog Post 12/03/2023 - Advent 2023 - “I make all things new!”

 

“I make all things new!”

“I make all things new!” (Rev. 21:5).  

This is of special comfort when we realize how quickly everything passes away and becomes dust and ashes.

All things new!  

 

    

 

 

 

God cannot tolerate what is corrupt and destructive and wants to change it.  Advent is a time to remember that we enter into new life only through repentance.

Advent starts tomorrow, it is a Season of Hope and a Season of Introspection/Preparation.  So today we can get a head start on the Introspection part of Advent.

God sent us into the world to share God’s goodness by living the Gospel.  In our first reading Daniel is terrified by his visions; visions of the end times.

In our gospel Jesus reminds us to be vigilant and not be anxious about our day to day life and our Responsorial Psalm encourages us to give glory and eternal praise to God and to bless the Lord.

We can sum up today’s message with three ideas:

1.    The End will come.

2.    We should be vigilant.

3.    Our lives should bless the Lord by sharing God’s goodness.

Take some time today reflect on how you can be vigilant while you share God’s goodness with the end in mind.
