Blog Post 10-27-2024 “I Have Taken Hold and I Will Not Let Go” [Tenui nec Domittiam]

 

As a student in Paris St. Francis de Sales studied the Song of Songs and in the love between the girl and the shepherd, he saw symbol of a person’s relationship with God, and he began to see the spiritual life as a love story. In the Song of Songs, we read, “I have found him whom my heart loves and I will not let him go.”

The Latin Tenui Nec Dimittam means “I have taken hold, and I will not let go.” It is the motto of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales, and it could be your spiritual insight today. God has taken hold, and He will not let go, so cling to God here on earth so in eternity you can walk with the Lord whose heart you desire and Who desires you.
