Thomas More and Francs de Sales discuss how to deal with adversity
Thomas More to Francis, "You must not
abandon the ship in a storm because you cannot control the winds . . . What you
cannot turn to good, you must at least make as little bad as you can."
Francis to Thomas, “Be patient thorns grow before roses appear.” And
“Let us be who we are and be that well, in order to bring honor to the
Master craftsman whose handiwork we are.”
These two great saints give us
practical spiritual wisdom to deal with difficulties.
Try ending each day with this prayer, Abba, Thank you, for this day, for those with whom I spent it, for its joys and its sorrows. May the silence of tonight, encompassed by darkness and stillness, prepare my soul for tomorrow. I am grateful for today and I bless Your holy name. Grant me the Courage and the Grace, tomorrow, to do Your Will for Your Honor and Your Glory. Amen.
