Blog Post 8/05/2022 – God answers our prayers, but sometimes in ways we don’t anticipate

God Changes Us

A mother sent her fifth grade boy up to bed. In a few minutes she went to make sure that he was getting in bed. When she stuck her head into his room, she saw that he was kneeling beside his bed in prayer. Pausing to listen to his prayers, she heard her son praying over and over again. “Let it be Tokyo! Please dear God, let it be Tokyo!”

When he finished his prayers, she asked him, "What did you mean, ‘Let it be Tokyo’?"

"Oh," the boy said with embarrassment, "we had our geography exam today and I was praying that God would make Tokyo the capital of France." [Sermons.com Robert L. Allen, Greatest Passages of The Bible, CSS Publishing Company]

Prayer is not the way we get God to do what we want; is an opening our heart and our will to find God in our daily lives. Prayer doesn’t change God, prayer changes us by helping us find God in our failures and in our successes, in our sorrows and in our joys.  Prayer is our avenue to a life with a glimpse of eternal life.

When Basketball Coach Jim Valvano was dying of cancer, he recommended “Don’t Give Up, Don’t Ever Give Up!”

That is great prayer advice, “Don’t Stop Praying, Don’t Ever Stop Praying!”  One day you will pray at the throne of God, and all will be well.

May God Be Praised!
