Irish Mother General was dying, and it was the custom in the convent to gather around the dying sister and pray for her and ask her for any final thoughts. To easy the Mother General’s pain one of the sisters went to the kitchen got some milk, heated it up and put a little whiskey in it and gave it to the Mother General. She drank it and the sisters asked if she had any final thought or advice. The Mother general said, “Whatever you do don’t get rid of the cow!”
E.C. McKenzie said, “Feed your faith and your doubts will starve to death.” That is a wonderful insight for us to contemplate during Lent. In our first reading Jeremiah we heard, “… like a trusting lamb ….” How trusting our you in God’s plan for your life?

In our Verse Before the Gospel, we were told, “Blessed are they who have kept the word with a generous heart and yield a harvest through perseverance.” Lent is a reminder to us to not only preserve, but to preserve with love and joy. Love and joy that Jesus is “the Christ” the anointed one of God and He walks with us on our journey.
Like the disciples on the Road to Emmaus we are called to
recognize Him to feed our faith and starve our doubts with His Word and His Eucharist.
