Blog Post - 1/08/2022 – Salesian Saturday Homily at OLPH

Salesian Saturday Homily at OLPH

This morning after Mass we will meet in the Gathering Space and discuss St. Jane de Chantal’s Insights on Prayer.  Coffee and Munchkins will be available from 8:30 am until 9:00 am, then we will come back into Church for Adoration and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.

Today’s readings reminder us that the essence of the spiritual life is bending our will, our soul, and our heart to God’s Will for us.  John says, “He must increase;  I must decrease.”

Obviously, counter intuitive to the thrust of our secular culture.  Our culture promotes self-first, material opulence as the best goal, however as we know sin is ever present in our lives and in our society.

What, then can we do?

Allow God’s Will to be the G.P.S. of our actions, listen to God’s voice directing us.  Our spiritual life will deepen and be enriched to the extent that we listen to God, that He increase, and we decrease.  The electronic revolution that we are living in will continue, so we must keep reminding ourselves who we are following!

We are disciples of Jesus baptized to follow Him – allow Jesus to increase and your life will be holy.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help, pray for us.

St. Francis de Sales, pray for us.

May God Be Praised and your day be Blessed.
