Blog Post 12/02/2021 Homily – OLPH School Mass

Homily [Cycle II] 12/02/2021 – OLPH School Mass

Today’s Gospel points out to us, the obvious building on a Sand or a Rock Foundation will give us very different results.  We [my wife Joanne & I] are blessed each summer to spend a week with our children & grandchildren in Sunset Beach N.C.

Our twin granddaughters [Beatrice & Abagail] and our other grandchildren build sand castles on the beach almost every day and every day they are washed away.  Building on sand does not last.

But each night we pray a grace of thanksgiving before we eat our dinner, that is part of the rock foundation we have as Christians, to offer thanks to God.

Our Rock Foundation to make our decisions in life can be summed up with these three things: From the Old Testament  - The Ten Commandments, From New Testament  - The Beatitudes, and 3. From the New Testament – The Two Great Commandments

That foundation will guide you to do God’s will each day.

Today let me offer you this Advent Recommendation: Prepare a Gratitude GIFT for your parents – each day during Advent write down on a piece of paper something/someone that you are grateful for and on Christmas morning after all the presents have been given; give it to your parents.  When You Give Your Gratitude Gift and say thank you to them.  It will enrich your Christmas tremendously!

Lexus has a car commercial with a great tag line: A December to Remember.

Preparing your heart, and your soul will deepen your love of and for Jesus. It will help you will be a better disciple – so your tag line could be: “A December to Remember!”

Remember to put God first because He is the reason for the Season.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help, pray for us.

St. Joseph, pray for us.

St. Andre Bessette, intercede for us.

St. Francis de Sales, pray for us.

“Tune my spirit to the music of heaven.”  [St. Brendan the Navigator]

May God Be Praised and your day be Blessed.
