Blog Post – 10/10/2021 - Ten Day Retreat with St. Francis de Sales

During the next ten days I suggest you take a few minutes each day to read and reflect on a spiritual insight from St. Francis de Sales.  These insights will be drawn primarily from four books:

1.    John Kirvan’s “Set Your Hear Free”

2.    John Burns’ “Lift Up Your Heart”

3.    Wendy Wright’s “Francis de Sales and Jane de Chantal”

4.    John P. McClernon’s “Sermon in a Sentence” [Vloume2, St. Francis de Sales]

Today anxiety continues to increase rapidly in our culture and in many of us individually, for a variety of reasons.  Probably the primary reason is the COVID Pandemic.

St. Francis de Sales offers us this precious insight to consider, “You know well that when you search for something too anxiously you can come upon it hundred times without ever seeing it.  So do not let anxiety sabotage your search for God.  Anxiety is the enemy of the soul’s peace.  It cannot come from God.”

[Kirvan, p.6]

Today each time you are troubled or experience anxiety, stop and offer your angst to God and let the Lord handle it.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help, pray for us.

St. Joseph, pray for us.

St. Andre Bessette, intercede for us.

St. Francis de Sales, pray for us.

“Tune my spirit to the music of heaven.”  [St. Brendan the Navigator]

May God Be Praised your day be Blessed.
