Day Four - A Mini Retreat with St. Teresa of Calcutta – Part Two

Chapter Four – “To Bring Joy to the Suffering Heart of Jesus”

                                                “Longing to Give All”

“Besides addressing Archbishop Perier’s concerns, Mother Teresa made, almost in passing, two revelations: that she had ‘not been seeking self for sometime now’ and that a singular grace of ‘love from souls’ had captivated her heart from her first Holy Communion.”  [p.59]

In response to Archbishop Perier’s nine questions, Mother Teresa, sent a letter to her spiritual director [Fr. Van Exem] for his review, he “… ordered het to ‘drop it’ [the whole endeavor] for all eternity “… if neither he nor the Archbishop mentioned if further.”  [p.78]

Mother Teresa did not expect this, but she was “… faithful to her commitment not to refuse the Lord anything, she chose to obey.”  [p.79]

Reflection:

St. Francis de Sales advised, “Ask for nothing, refuse nothing, but leave ourselves in the arms of divine Providence, without busying ourselves with any desires, except to will what God wills of us.”  de Sales’ advice is fundamental to anyone who wants to do God’s Will faithfully and fully.  Simply put, “Ask for nothing, refuse nothing.”

St. Joseph pray for us.

St. Andre Bessette intercede for us.

St. Francis de Sales pray for us.

“Tune my spirit to the music of heaven.”  St. Brendan the Navigator

May God Be Praised.
