Offered by Dcn. George Kelly

                                                    How to live each Day?

Live each day, as a gift to our Heavenly Father, TRUSTING in God’s Providence for us and for our world.  What kind of TRUST does God ask from us?  In a traditional flying trapeze act, flyers mount a narrow board and take off on the fly bar.  The flyer must wait for a call from the catcher to make sure they leave at the correct time.  If leave too early or too late, the catcher will not be close enough to the flyer to make the catch.  The flyer must have complete trust in the catcher.  The flyer is often perceived as the star of the show, but the real star is the catcher.

The flyer must do nothing and allow the catcher to do everything.  To be a successful disciple of Jesus requires us to completely trust our catcher, our Heavenly Father, with all our heart.  We are not supposed to catch God but allow God to catch us.  Simply stretching out our arms and hands – without fear – and out hearts - trusting …. (The Flyer and Catcher by Kaizen on December 19, 2013)  We are flyers asked by God to TRUST and PREPARE!  TRUST & PREPARATION are hard work, but they pay HEAVENLY REWARDS!  Take a few minutes, in silence, reflect on your TRUST and your PREPARATION to meet your maker!

Let me share with you a portion of Matthew’s Gospel: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.  Which one of you would hand his son a stone when he asks for a loaf of bread, or a snake when he asks for a fish?  If you then, who are wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good things to those who ask him.”

Matthew poses interesting? s for us! “Which one of you (of us) would hand our son or daughter a stone when they asked for a loaf of bread?”  “Which one of you would hand your child a snake when they asked for a fish?”  Parents want the best for their children.  The more difficult question to grapple with and to answer is – what is best!  Are we talking about school, clothes, food, cell phone, computer, etc?  Those things are important BUT they are not the MOST important thing we can give our children.

Randy Pausch gained fame with his Last Lecture.  Professors are sometimes asked to consider their death and to share what matters most to them.  Take some time to think about what God’s wants them to learn from you and the way you live.  As you reflect on that, you can skip the obvious – providing for them financially.  What life lessons would you want to give them?  Look at the cartoon and reflect on your use of your cell phone and all electronics you use.

Saint Joseph, pray for us.

Saint Andre Bessette intercede for us.

May God Be Praised!
