A Daily Dose of God

The Season of "Remembering" continues - Jesus is the reason for the season.  "He will destroy death for ever.  The Lord will wipe away the tears from every cheek."  As we continue our Advent Journey take a few minutes to reflect on insights from these two saints.  May they help us grow closer to the Lord.

St. Margaret Mary Alacoque said, "Would that I could exhaust myself in acts of thanksgiving and gratitude towards this Divine Heart, for the great favor He shows us, in deigning to accept our help to make Him known, loved and honored; He reserves infinite blessings for all those who devote themselves to this work."

Thomas a' Kempis, in his Imitation of Christ, wrote, "Nothing is sweeter than love; nothing stronger, nothing higher, nothing more generous, nothing more pleasant, nothing fuller or better in Heaven or on earth; for love proceeds from God and cannot rest but in God above all things created."

Bishop Barron recently shared this Reflection St. Luke’s Gospel [21:29-33], “… Jesus alerts us to consider the signs of the passing of all things. All of the joys, goods, pleasures, and accomplishments of this world will one day be taken from us. And this futility extends to all of culture, all of nature, and even to the cosmos itself.  Physicists tell us that, one day, our earth will be enveloped by the sun. Then the sun will collapse in on itself and become a black hole drawing matter and light into itself. After many more billions of years, the entire universe will run out of energy and either fade out in a great freeze or burn out in a great fry.”

The Lord is our beginning and our end, how we get there is our gift to our creator.  Spend a few minutes, in silence, contemplating the fact that the Word of God became man and lived among us, and even today is with us.

May God Be Praised!

COVID PANDEMIC PRAYER

You are my refuge and my hope, I turn to You during this COVID 19 Pandemic and plead for Your intercession.  In Your mercy and Your compassion “… grant eternal rest to the dead, comfort to mourners, healing to the sick ….” strength to the first responders, compassion and endurance to the medical personnel, and wisdom to government leaders.  End this coronavirus scourge.  Send Your light to guide me as I wander in the darkness of this pandemic and give me the solace of Your eternal love today.  Amen.  [Psalm 143 and Collect from Mass Time in Pandemic Adopted by Dcn. George Kelly]
