A Daily Dose of God

Pray for our Nation

Tomorrow is election day and I ask you to pray for our nation and for whomever wins the election.  As faithful citizens we hope that all government officials will work for the common good of our citizens and all of the world’s people.

Listen to the “The Prayerhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qt_OkgSOrkU and to “Amazing Grace” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdSAhRH7M8Q

Take a few minutes to reflect on these excerpts from “The Prayer”:

Guide us with your grace
When shadows fill our day

Lead us to a place
Guide us with your grace
Give us faith so we'll be safe

Guide us with your grace
Give us faith so we'll be safe.

And take a few minutes to reflect on these excerpts for “Amazing Grace”:

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound

And grace my fears relieved;
And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me,
As long as life endures.

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.

Even though we work for and long for God’s Kingdom to come, while we wait for the Kingdom’s fulness we are called to do what we can to make our country and our world the best that it can be.

Finally, this morning listen to “Matt Malone, S.J.'s new, nonpartisan national hymn, America, My Country.”

It will take three minutes:

Reflect on Fr. Matt Malone’s final verse:

“America, my country, let heaven be your guide!

In every soul within you, faith, hope & love abide!

America, my country!  I know your destiny:

To lift the heavy burden and set the captive free!”

May God bless you and May God bless our nation.

May God Be Praised!

COVID 19 Pandemic Prayer

Hear my cry!  “Lord, listen to my prayer: turn your ear to my appeal.”  You are my refuge and my hope, I turn to you during this COVID 19 Pandemic and plead for Your intercession.  In Your mercy and Your compassion “… grant eternal rest to the dead, comfort to mourners, healing to the sick ….”

[Psalm 143 and Collect from Mass Time in Pandemic]

Provide strength to the first responders, compassion to the medical personnel, and wisdom to government leaders.  End this coronavirus scourge.  Send Your light to me as I wander in the darkness of this pandemic and give me hope in Your eternal love today and every day.  Amen.  [Dcn. George Kelly]
