A Daily Dose of God

“We have seen for ourselves, and can testify, that the Father has sent the Son as savior of the world. When anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwells in him and he in God.”  [1 John 4:14-15]

Thoughts from Pope Francis and Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI for you to contemplate.

Pope Francis preached “Faith in God asks us to renew every day the choice of good over evil, the choice of the truth rather than lies, the choice of love for our neighbour over selfishness. Those who convert to this choice, after having experienced sin, will find the first places in the Kingdom of heaven, where there is greater joy for a single sinner who converts than for ninety-nine righteous people.”  [ANGELUS SEPTEMBER 27, 2020]

We are called to be saints and a characteristic that the saints share is - they focus on the Kingdom.  Pope Benedict XVI wrote about the followers of Christ, “It is because of faith that we exchange the present for the future." [Witness of the Saints, p.205]

Today focus on choosing good over evil and acknowledging the Kingdom is your first priority, that means exchanging the present for the future.  Once you do that God’s light will shine through your actions clearly.

May God Be Praised!

COVID 19 Pandemic Prayer

Hear my cry!  “Lord, listen to my prayer: turn your ear to my appeal.”  You are my refuge and my hope, I turn to you during this COVID 19 Pandemic and plead for Your intercession.  In Your mercy and Your compassion “… grant eternal rest to the dead, comfort to mourners, healing to the sick ….”

[Psalm 143 and Collect from Mass Time in Pandemic]

Provide strength to the first responders, compassion to the medical personnel, and wisdom to government leaders.  End this coronavirus scourge.  Send Your light to me as I wander in the darkness of this pandemic and give me hope in Your eternal love today and every day.  Amen.  [Dcn. George Kelly]
