COVID 19 Pandemic Prayer

 

St. Francis de Sales wrote, “What is the prize if it is not Jesus Christ?  How can you take hold of Him if you do not follow Him?”   

We can live our faith in the sunlight of God’s love or live our faith in the shadows of God’s love!  In last Sunday’s Gospel, St. John tells us that Jesus “… said there are many dwelling places…. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?”

Dr. Joshua Slee, Assistant Professor of Biology at De Sales University wrote a beautiful article about our current Pandemic Situation, “In a time of crisis, we are reminded of the good and loving presence of others in our lives.  While we must keep our distance, we see countless numbers of compassionate acts by others…. as a society we have heard the call of those in need and have responded with compassionate mercy as God would have us do.

In times of crisis, compassion for others is evidence of a living and ever-present God in our lives….  As Fr. Pocetto OSFS, PhD, once wrote, ‘compassionate love exemplifies our solidarity with others and especially makes us realize our common human vulnerability, our mutual interdependence and our need to be with those who are suffering.  It makes us see the interconnectedness of our lives.’  So, at a moment when we all feel disconnected from friends, loved ones, family, students, colleagues, and the like, remember that through our compassionate acts we can truly be interconnected in spirit.

Jesus promised that He would prepare a place for us and that place is the dwelling place of God.  Until Jesus calls us to our eternal dwelling place with Him, our place is [here] amid the COVID 19 Pandemic and whether we are on the front lines battling the virus or staying at home battling the virus, God is with us.
