From Fr. Gerhard Lohfink’s book “The Our Father: A New Reading””
Our
Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be
done, on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give
us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those
who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from
evil.
Fr. Gerhard Lohfink offers these “… five observations about the Our
Father”
·
1.
the Our Father is pure petition
·
2.
it is very short
·
3.
it gets right to the point
·
4.
God’s interest comes first
·
5.
God acts through people
Spend a few minutes reflecting on Fr. Lohfink’s five
observations, then pray the Our Father again.
May God
Be Praised!
